What is the purpose of the Think Tank?

A place for scholars worldwide to conduct global research on the virtual organization management discipline. A dual purpose is to serve specifically as a powerful global advocacy group for the virtual organization management discipline and, in general, to promote the establishment of virtual organizations.
Are think tank opportunities salaried positions?

NO. All think tank opportunities are 12-month UNPAID fellowship positions filled by VOMI fellows (Master and Ph.D. Students and recent Postdocs) who have either received an unpaid fellowship from VOMI; or have secured their own funding from a private or public source subject to confirmation by VOMI; or are personally funding their fellowship subject to certifying that they have the financial means to do so. However, in the event VOMI secures a Board Sponsor to finance a specific fellowship, a monthly stipend or compensation will be provided to such fellowship recipient.
All selected fellows, excluding fellows sponsored by a VOMI Board Sponsor, who have successfully completed their fellowship will receive a $10,000-$25,000 stipend, depending on the fellowship, for tuition and education expenses subject to meeting all other stipend award requirements.
Do think tank opportunities require US citizenship?

NO. You can be from anywhere in the world as long as you meet our fellowship requirements. However, certain types of projects that are funded by the US government or government-affiliated entities do require US citizenship and a US government security investigation and clearance.
Are Fellows official members of the think tank-advisory board?

YES. All fellows are automatically granted "Pro Tem Active Member" status on the board and, therefore, not subject to the standard Active Member status requirements listed on the Membership Levels section of the Grand Overview of VOMI Global Think and Advisory Board document.
Are Fellows (Pro Tem Active Members) eligible to receive the same sort of compensation as standard Active Members?

No. However, upon "successful" completion of their fellowship, they will automatically qualify for Active Member status and may petition to remain on the board in their new Active Member capacity. At which point, they will become eligible for such compensation. The same goes for all internship positions.
Can Fellows participate in non-research and other non-think tank activities (i.e., advisory board functions)?

No.
Are internship opportunities salaried positions?

No, we only offer 30-Day UNPAID internships up to a maximum period of 90 days based on performance during each previous 30-day period. However, a stipend for education and tuition expenses, based on the internship position, may be awarded upon successful completion of the full 90-day period.
Can stipends for VOMI unpaid internships and fellowships be pro-rated in the event of a partial completion of either the maximum internship period or the full term of a fellowship?

Absolutely no. No exceptions will be granted. With respect to fellowships that are sponsored by a VOMI Board Sponsor, this will not be an issue since fellowship recipients will receive regular monthly stipends subject to meeting the appropriate stipend award requirements.
Are interns official members of the think tank-advisory board?

YES. All interns are automatically granted "Pro Tem Active Member" status on the board and, therefore, not subject to the standard Active Member status requirements listed on the Membership Levels section of the Grand Overview of VOMI Global Think and Advisory Board document.
Are Interns (Pro Tem Active Members) eligible to receive the same sort of compensation as standard Active Members?

Can I join the Board as an Active Member from day one?

No. You must begin as an Auxiliary Member if you are not joining the board in an internship or fellowship capacity. You will have an opportunity to quickly progress through the various levels based on your level of commitment and performance.
You may, however, receive an interim appointment by the Chairman or Executive Committee of the Board to a position which requires Active Member status until such time as we are formally able to fill the position in accordance with the Board charter. To request such appointment, review the complete listing of Board opportunities, select only one specific position that is of most interest to you, and proceed in accordance with the position requirements and instructions provided.
Is there a membership fee for joining the Board?

No.

Yes, but only for non-military related and non-US national security research fellowships. Select the fellowship(s) and the number of fellows you want to sponsor from this list.
