Sabbatical Fellowships
Virtual Organization Management Institute offers research sabbatical fellowships, generously supported by our sponsors, to both Postdocs and Ph.D. program students pursuing dissertation for whom financial assistance from their home institution is available only part of the year; and to recent Ph.D.s who seek to pursue a career in virtual organization management but require financial assistance. The fellowship's tenure is for the full academic year 2010-2011 or 2011-2012.

All international candidates that are selected must be present in the United States in order to participate in this research sabbatical.

Will be involved in writing and presenting research papers, white papers and the development of materials for, and participation in, Virtual Organization Management CEO Summits, webinars, seminars, workshops, practicums, symposiums and conferences to be held worldwide. Will also have an opportunity to participate at these events in one or more of the following capacities: Panel Moderator, Panel Member, Speaker, or Trainer. The level and extent of participation will depend on each individual's overall background, experience and performance.

Award and Payment
  • The stipend for the Research Sabbatical Fellowship is $30,000 to $50,000; and is based on the decision of our committee.
  • Payment will be made in two (2) installments, and at 6-month intervals, during the tenure of the fellowship.

Requirements for Postdocs and Recent Ph.D.s
  • A doctoral degree in either Business Administration, Information Technology, or the Social Sciences conferred no earlier than the year 2009.
  • The tenure of the sabbatical leave must be for the full academic year 2010-2011 or 2011-2012 working on a full-time basis.
  • VOMI retains full or joint ownership and rights to all intellectual property developed during the course of the research sabbatical and all online or print publications issuing from the work accomplished must acknowledge Virtual Organization Management Institute's assistance.
  • Participate in a VOMI symposium near the end of tenure in order to discuss their work.

Requirements for Ph.D. Program Students
  • Must be currently enrolled in a doctoral program in either Business Administration, Information Technology, or the Social Sciences.
  • Must have completed all course requirements for the doctoral program and are pursuing dissertation with at least one year remaining.
  • The tenure of the sabbatical leave must be for the full academic year 2010-2011 or 2011-2012 working on a full-time basis.
  • VOMI retains full or joint ownership and rights to all intellectual property developed during the course of the research sabbatical and all online or print publications issuing from the work accomplished must acknowledge Virtual Organization Management Institute's assistance.
  • Participate in a VOMI symposium near the end of tenure in order to discuss their work.

Application Materials for Postdocs and Ph.D. Program Students
  • Submit Registration of Interest Application. Upon receipt, applicant will be notified how to proceed.
  • Approval letter from a college or university official regarding the granting of leave for sabbatical/research year, or affirming eligibility for leave, and related financial support; and giving date of final approval.
  • 3 referee letters sent directly by the educational institution to lettersofsupport@virtualorganizationinstitute.com by no later than May 15, 2010 or 2011. Upon receipt of letters from the institution, applicant will be notified.
  • Statement of proposed virtual organization management project in 3 sections: (1) purpose, methodology, and framework; (2) how it will contribute to present knowledge of the subject; and (3) significant work accomplished to date, if any.
  • Applicant's curriculum vitae. Indicate which prior publications are relevant to the proposal.
  • Writing sample: a maximum of 15 pages from a work in print.
  • All application materials, excluding the Registration of Interest Application and referee letters, must be submitted by email to research-sabbatical@virtualorganizationinstitute.com and be received by no later than May 15, 2010 or 2011 for the academic year 2010-2011 or 2011-2012 sabbatical fellowship program. Applications received after the due date will be eligible for consideration for the following academic year program.

Application Materials for Recent Ph.D.s
  • Submit Registration of Interest Application. Upon receipt, applicant will be notified how to proceed.
  • 3 letters of support sent directly by former professors to lettersofsupport@virtualorganizationinstitute.com within 30 days of notification to proceed with the application. Upon receipt of letters from former professors, applicant will be notified.
  • Statement of proposed virtual organization management project in 3 sections: (1) purpose, methodology, and framework; (2) how it will contribute to present knowledge of the subject; and (3) significant work accomplished to date, if any.
  • Applicant's curriculum vitae. Indicate which prior publications are relevant to the proposal.
